Powerleague, the UK’s leading small-sided pitch community and multi-sport provider, has invested more than £250,000 in its Manchester club, based on Union Street.
As part of the upgrade works, seven pitches have been regenerated to Powerleague’s trademarked PowerPitch Plus surface, which provides a more authentic playing experience, including six 5s pitches and one 7s pitch. In addition, a further 7s pitch has also been introduced at the venue.
The club has been part of the local grassroots community for more than 30 years, and these enhancements build on that legacy to make the experience even better for years to come.
This continues on from a year of strong investment from Powerleague who committed almost £1.1million in total upgrades across the estate in 2025 alone.
Chief Executive of Powerleague, John Gillespie, commented: “Our Manchester club welcomes 4,000 football players every week, highlighting the importance of small-sided football to the local community, and the role that Powerleague plays in providing an outlet where they can come together, socialise and stay active. This is all part of our commitment to the future of the game, giving our customers state-of-the-art surfaces and environments. We hope that this investment into the venue allows even more people the opportunity to enjoy the space and the benefits it offers.”
