PEOPLE’ UNVEILS NEW BMX FAN EXPERIENCE AT RED BULL BMX EVENT

As part of an ongoing partnership between Red Bull and People, the BMX event in Manchester saw People appointed to deliver the creative, production, event operations, structural design and build, as well as special effects, lighting and audio.

Tasked with offering BMX fans a unique and immersive experience, People’s creative team developed a new concept featuring a three-storey viewing platform known as ‘The Wall’, inside the Manchester Central venue.

This first class event saw history made, with the world’s top BMX athletes landing 11 world-first tricks in three hours. BMX pros, Kieran Reilly and Hannah Roberts were crowned Red Bull Featured Champions in front of a packed out crowd.

The 9m high BMX ramp sat adjacent to three levels of viewing space, providing fans with a more exhilarating, up-close experience. Alongside the action, People also built three dramatic entrance tunnels, one of which led fans through the centre of the bespoke three-storey viewing platform.

Rory O’Donovan, Partner at People comments: “Red Bull produces some of the world’s most distinctive and dramatic  sports events, providing fans with unforgettable experiences. At People, we always want to push the boundaries of what a space can do – so it’s been a privilege working with a pioneering team at Red Bull, to create the right environment for such an exciting sporting spectacle.”

Sebastian ‘Bas’ Keep, Red Bull Featured Event Creator and BMX legend, commented: “Red Bull Featured’s rules allowed the riders to try their dream tricks. But as those tricks are so scary to go for, the riders needed a huge atmosphere and cheers of support from the crowd. The wall pushed the fans within 3 meters of the riders making them feel that support and energy up close really helping them to land never before tricks!”

This event marks the second project delivered between the two businesses, with People also appointed to design and build Red Bull’s iconic Soapbox racecourse in summer 2024, at Alexandra Palace, London.
