Last weekend, JD officially launched its biggest-ever flagship store at the iconic Trafford Centre – a landmark moment for the global sports fashion retailer and the city it proudly calls home. Spanning an impressive 41,000 square feet, the store became JD’s largest product showcase and set a new benchmark in retail, both in scale and experience.
The store launch was not just about shopping – it was a full cultural takeover. On the eve of the grand opening, JD and Nike hosted a JD community lock-in event, handing over the keys to UK rap heavyweight Central Cee. He, along with Manchester’s own Nemzzz, turned up the heat with live sets that included a high-energy joint performance of their track DILEMMA. On the day of the official opening, JD did not hold back. Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt opened the JD biggest store alongside Beta Squad, entertaining crowds with a 100-metre sprint challenge.
Off the back off the celebrations that saw thousands of fans queue to witness this milestone, JD is offering more over this coming week.
What’s on this week:
To really celebrate JD’s hometown, the brand launches Manchester adidas Originals Market — a space inside the store repping local creatives and homegrown talent. From its street style game to its ongoing impact on youth culture, JD is giving back to the community.
Amplifying Manchester’s legacy, the destination includes a range of unmissable gifts with purchase – first come, first served – including: 200 free matcha from @federalcafebar, spend £20+ on Adidas women’s product for a free flower bouquet from @frogmcr spend £60+ on Adidas women’s product for a free A4 print @Holliegraphik. And not forgetting the lads, adidas Originals Barbers is giving away fresh trims when spending over £20+.
For those in need of hype hydration, grab a Stanley Cup and customise with Matt B Customs at the in-store personalisation workshop.
And to keep things ultra chill, fan-favourite Unlike Humans’ iconic ice cream truck will be pulling up to serve JD matcha and vanilla mochi.
James Air, JD’s Director of Group Acquisitions, commented: “This new store at Trafford Centre is a true statement of intent. It’s our biggest, boldest space to date – and it happened in the city where our journey began. This is JD at its very best: fashion-forward, community-focused, and pushing the boundaries of retail.”
Simon Layton, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, added: “We were incredibly proud to welcome the world’s largest JD to Trafford Centre. This flagship store is a game-changer, not just for Manchester but for the retail landscape. With immersive displays, expert staff and dynamic services, JD set a whole new standard for what an in-store experience should be.”
Fuelled by the unstoppable energy of youth and JD’s Forever Forward mission, JD Trafford Centre is where sport, fashion, music, and culture collide to push boundaries and shape what’s next. Delivering world-class shopping experiences that will serve the community and redefine what’s possible.
