AFTER 12 YEARS, DOG BOWL IS CLOSING AS A BRAND NEW VENUE PREPARES TO STRIKE

Dog Bowl, Manchester’s iconic bowling alley, is calling it a day after 12 years (or 84 in dog years) of strikes, burgers and more pints than can be counted. The venue will officially close on Saturday 16th August – but the party isn’t over, it’s getting a full Miami glow-up.

Taking over the legendary Whitworth Street site is Wynwood Lanes, bringing pool-side party vibes to the venue inspired by Miami’s vibrant Wynwood district. Set to open at 4pm on Friday 22nd August, the new site takes over Dog Bowl, which first opened in 2013 and was later acquired by the team behind NQ64 in 2018. Fast-Forward to 2025, the space is bringing a taste of Wynwood to Manchester city centre.

Wynwood Lanes will offer five fresh bowling lanes, fully upgraded for late-night sessions with east coast playlists, celebratory smoke machines and upgraded lighting effects that bring every strike to life. Guests can also expect new pool tables, basketball hoops and a coconut shy, all set within art-filled interiors inspired by Miami’s iconic Wynwood district.

The new bar takes its name and creative energy from that very neighborhood – Miami’s lively down-town art district, known for its bold geometric murals, neon lit streets and 24/7 energy.

A new food menu will be served up by Manchester legends Kong’s NQ, who actually started out slinging fried chicken in the OG Dog Bowl kitchen. BUT they’re back again for good this August – now with a Miami inspired menu, expect to see fresh Cuban sandwiches, meat-filled Arepa’s and fried chicken tacos, alongside a fresh brunch line up.

A brand new drinks menu is also landing, inspired by Southern State flavours, expect a blend of poolside party drinks (think Frozen Margs, Fruity Daqs and Creamy Coladas), with late night lobby cocktails you’d likely stumble upon in a downtown Miami hotel. In a nutshell, they’re fresh, fruity and boozy.

The new spot will also feature a bottomless brunch menu every Saturday and Sunday starting on 30th August, offering Miami brunch plates and bottomless party drinks for 90 minutes, with the option to upgrade to bowling too.

Wynwood Lanes will run a unique day-mode and night-mode model. By day, guests can expect poolside cocktails, low-fi tunes, and a laid-back atmosphere – with children welcome until 7pm, Sunday to Wednesday.

For night mode, Wynwood Lanes turns up the heat with drinks offers, late night snacks and a late night playlist, the perfect place to kick off a night out.

Matt Robson, Co-founder of Wynwood Lanes, said: “We went and sat in Dog Bowl recently and just realised we weren’t proud of it anymore – (especially the name, we no longer want to compete with pet shops on Google). Wynwood Lanes will bring something new to Whitworth Street and we’re buzzing to crack on with it!

“We have a hit list of passions from a trip to Wynwood in Miami and built a space that brings together the things we love – drinking rum and tequila, smashing avo on toast with Cuban coffee for brunch, tacos and fried chicken at night, playing and watching basketball, sharking people at pool and partying late into the night…”

Wynwood Lanes opens from 4pm on Friday 22nd August at 57 Whitworth Street, Manchester. Bowling prices will start at £9 with the option to add drinks and food while you bowl.
