Trof Turns 10!

on

Ten years ago, Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone to the world and unknowingly shaped the world we live in, forever. Little did we know at the time, that this wasn’t to be the most important event of the year… NO! 2007 was of course, the year Trof NQ was born and the rest is simply, history.

A huge all-out FREE celebration, plus a coincidental long Bank Holiday weekend packed with top-notch, all day naughtiness from 25th May through ‘till Wednesday 31st, means there’s no excuse not to join in with our Birthday antics.

Manchester’s ‘Best Club Night 2017’ as voted by Manchester Evening News, ‘La Discotheque’, are strutting down the road from their usual residency at The Albert Hall for a mini-takeover of giant proportions on Saturday 27th May. Boasting huge acts including Candi Staton, Jocelyn Brown, Todd Terje, and Hercules & Love Affair, at Albert Hall, ‘La Petite Discotheque’ will have equal calibre with Will Tramp!, Disco Mums, El Diablo’s Social Club, Disco Illusions and Luv Dancin’. Gorilla’s ‘Disco Brunch’ have also confirmed their seat at the table. All in all, expect Disco til the break of dawn, flamingos, feathers and a shit load of glitter.

We’re proud to have one of Manchester’s biggest names joining the weekend’s giant celebrations, legendary frontman of Doves, Jimi Goodwin, will perform a one-off acoustic set at the top of the bill on what is usually Trof NQ’s ‘Open Mic’ night. Also on the ironic Open Mic roster, are favourites of the city, The Travelling Band and there’s a few other tasty names to be announced too.

The Bank Holiday Monday sees The Deaf Institute’s flagship, new music festival ‘Stay Fresh Fest’ bring some of the hottest acts in the North onto one bill. It’s going to be like a raucous DIY house party show in a super tiny room. We can’t announce the line-up yet but there’s some VERY special guests about to be unveiled.

To keep you drooling over lavish line-ups and keep your hips doing things they shouldn’t be; we’ve got a sexy funk & soul set from the You Dig? boys, prior to their Deaf Institute residency on Friday 26th May and a late night take over from Wet Play to keep you well-oiled into the late hours. House, disco, electro-boogie, techno, and afro-funky goodness are guaranteed to be on the cards.

Sunday’s were made for roast dinners … and a wholesome vinyl set from a popular Manchester face? All hail, ‘Roast & Records’, with man-about-town and fine spinner of wax, Pasta Paul here to nurse last night’s regrets, all served best with lashings of gravy!
Welcoming in the night, Euphony DJs

As if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got a 10th Birthday themed quiz on Tuesday with prizes champing Family Fortunes. We’ve got a big fat cash prize, a week’s VIP pass at The Albert Hall and your drinks tab on us. Bring your brains!

It’s gonna be a week of parties, so big that you’ll definitely need to book the next day off work. See you there!
