The Printworks Showcases Its Soul Once More

Following three successful years raising over £65,000 for The Christie, The Manchester Soul Festival is back at The Printworks once again.

Bringing together the UK’s leading soul DJs, bands and artists, the event this year has a record-breaking target of £35,000 to take the total raised to £100,000 and is set to be bigger and better than ever!

Taking place on Sunday 26th August, The Manchester Soul Festival will bring all the fun and nostalgia of Northern soul and Motown alive, while raising money for a charity close to many people’s hearts.

Acts will be performing across a range of venues within The Printworks including Lazy Lizard, Bierkeller, Hard Rock Cafe, Yates and Walkabout, as well as in its very own pump yard.

Though the full line-up is yet to be announced, main stage acts will once again be lucky enough to be performing on the ‘Frank Byrne’ stage, in memory of the man who made it all possible. The Manchester Soul Festival was the brainchild of Frank, who wanted to thank The Christie for taking care of him as he battled with cancer, and he worked tirelessly to make it a success until he passed away in 2015.

Fred Booth, centre director of The Printworks, said “Every year we pride ourselves on raising as much money as possible for The Christie, and this year is no different as we are aiming to hit the £100,000 mark! Not only that, but it always promises to be a fantastic family day out, with some talented acts lined up and some great offers from tenants. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in on bank holiday Sunday for what promises to be another excellent day.”

Jennifer Kent, Community Fundraising Coordinator at The Christie, said “The money raised over the past three years has helped to support The Cancer Appeal Fund at The Christie. This fund is particularly important as it allows us to allocate the money to the greatest need, wherever it is within the hospital, at any given time. It also provides support to the complementary therapy, wig service and rehabilitation departments that offer vital support for patients as they go through treatment and assist them with their recovery. The effort that goes into making this event a success is fantastic to see and we’re always so grateful.”

Tenants will also be offering food and drink deals throughout the day to spread even more joy throughout the scheme. Further details of the event, timings, acts and offers will follow soon.
