The legendary Come As You Are Weekender returns to The Refuge from Friday 24th – Sunday 26th for more bank holiday mayhem.
Following on from his triumphant ‘Summer In The City’ BBQ & beats takeover, Alex Big Grillie is back once again providing a naughty weekend feast in the courtyard of The Refuge. Taking place from Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th from 2pm, free entrance and open to all!
Perfect for alfresco dining, The Refuge courtyard hideaway will see Manchester food hero Alex Big Grillie cooking up his signature style of dirty BBQ food. Serving up two mouth-watering burgers, The Una-Burger representing Manchester’s famous duo – The Unabombers (Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford) and The Piggy Smalls. The Big Grillie menu will also include two of the finest hot dogs: The Pig Narstie topped with ketchup, mustard and onions; and The Re-Fugee-la-la with pulled pork crispy onions and BBQ sauce.
Hailing from Joshua Brooks, Big Grillie will be bringing his lustful cuisine to the Refuge for you to enjoy. Stars of the show are The Una-Burger a classic cheeseburger paired with pickles, mustard, and burnt butter black pepper mayo; and The Piggy Smalls a bacon cheeseburger with pickles, pulled pork and a drizzle of screaming BBQ sauce. There will also be plenty of vegetarian options available.
Alex Applegarth, the mastermind behind Big Grillie Style said: “I’m super proud to be part of the Come As You Are Weekender to showcase a unique take on American cuisine once again at The Refuge.”
Luke Cowdrey, DJ and restaurateur said: “The Come As You Are Weekender reunites all the good vibes of the city and we are really happy to have the addition of Alex Big Grillie this year. Meaning we can create a party that won’t be forgotten combining quality DJ’s, food and drink, further showcasing the ever-evolving power of The Refuge”.
As well as incredible food, the party continues straight into the basement of The Refuge, kicking off with Horse Meat Disco on Friday night, Joey Negro on Saturday night – both being ticketed events. The Come As You Are Weekender will then be closed by Homoelectric, bringing a love-intensity to the Courtyard that has to be seen to be believed; and local label Sprechen Music in the basement with a phenomenal party open to everyone, free entrance.
