The city’s favourite hangout, The Refuge has announced the launch of its alfresco-style ‘vinyl only’ parties every weekend on the terrace, in Waterhouse Way.
To mark the beginning of the summer season, the day-to-night soirées kick-off on Friday 28th June, taking place every weekend until Saturday 17th August. The originators of the world’s first ‘super premium’ gin, Martin Miller’s Gin have created a bespoke gin bar, exclusive to The Refuge for the summer months.
Taking the party outside this summer, The Refuge have curated a stellar line-up of DJs & crate diggers who are all known for their expertise in digging through the crates and for each having extensive record collections. The fruits of their labour can be heard in Waterhouse Way, starting from 5pm to 8pm every Friday and from 4pm to 8pm every Saturday with a lazy & hazy soundtrack of laid back beats and soulful sounds all played on specially selected vinyl.
Opening the Weekend Terrace Party summer series, on Friday 28th June, is DJs turned restaurateurs – Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford aka “The Unabombers” and the minds behind one of Manchester’s most influential club nights, Electric Chair. Expect sounds of house, jazz, disco, hip-hop, broken beat, Latin, R&B, techno, northern sulphuric soul & more at the official launch evening.
Continuing though the Summer weeks there will be some of Manchester’s most renowned disco jockeys and club gatherings, with appearances from the likes of Ad Hoc Records, Supernature, Me Gusta, Moodymanc, Lord Chester, Roots Before Branches, Jeff O’Toole and Martin Brew (JWalk) (to name a few) before the annual Come As You Are Weekender closes off the proceedings at the end of August.
The Waterhouse Way hideaway is the place to be this summer, and now even more with the bespoke gin bar from Martin Miller’s – leaders in the gin renaissance. Serving refreshing gin cocktails, including The Martin Miller’s Perfect Serve £10; English Garden £8.50, with a note of pear liqueur, cucumber sherbet, ginger ale; and The Silk Spritz £9.50 with elderflower liqueur, Prosecco and soda water.
The Refuge Weekend Terrace Party is the perfect way to end your week; drop in for a well-deserved afterwork drink or start the party with friends, at Manchester’s hidden terrace.
