HALFWAY TO ST PATRICK’S DAY IS A BIG DEAL ELSEWHERE – NANCY SPAINS IS BRINGING IT TO THE UK THIS SEPTEMBER

On Saturday 19th September 2026, Nancy Spains launches Nancy’s Day, an annual celebration running across its Monument and Manchester venues for the first time.

Six months out from St Patrick’s Day, the halfway mark has become an occasion in its own right, marked every September by Irish communities around the world. It has never properly taken hold here, Nancy Spains started changing that last year, and this September it goes further.

On Saturday 19th September 2026, the fast-growing Irish hospitality group will launch Nancy’s Day across its Monument and Manchester venues. It ran for the first time last year at Monument last year to a packed room and this year, it runs in two cities, on the same Saturday every September from here on.

This idea is simple. Take the atmosphere normally saved for one day in March and run it properly, on a Saturday, in September. Doors open at midday, the music starts in the afternoon, and the whole thing builds from there.

“This say has been going on for years elsewhere and nobody had brought it over here properly, so we have. Music from the afternoon, a proper session, and Nancy running the show. We tried it at Monument last year and the place was packed out, which is why we are running it in two cities this time. We will be doing it every September from now on” says Peter O’Halloran, co-founder of Nancy Spains.

True to Nancy Spains’ reputation for putting live music at the centre of everything it does, Nancy’s Day will be billed as a mini festival, with acts announced in the run-up to the 19th and venues’ own resident players sharing billing with touring names. The day builds in intensity from doors open to close: traditional music through the afternoon with no stage and no introductions before the set lifts through the evening and a late-night party.

Central to the day is a nod to the story behind the brand’s name. Nancy Spains was a County Kerry-born landlady who emigrated to London in the late 1800s and became the city’s first Irish landlady – the inspiration for the business the O’Halloran brothers have built. On Nancy’s Day, that history comes to life: a “Nancy” will be in each venue, working the room and keeping the day moving.

There are prizes to be won across the day, and the mechanic is as simple as it sounds. Every Murphy’s poured comes with a card. Scratch it at the bar and find out there and then whether you have won, from pints on the house and branded shirts to a £100 bar tab.

The day arrives as Nancy Spains continues to grow across London and Manchester, with the brand’s next venue opening in Bristol this October – its first outside the two cities. Daily live music, genuine hospitality and community are the values that sit behind every venue the O’Halloran brothers open

London and Manchester, and the next stop in Nancy Spains’ growth story. Nancy’s Day is being run in partnership with Murphy’s Irish Stout and Dingle. The values driving Nancy’s Day – daily live music, genuine hospitality, and community – are the same ones that sit behind every venue the O’Halloran brothers open, and Nancy’s Day is built to put all three on display.
