Independent restaurant, coffee house and cocktail club, Coco Tang, will open in Spinningfields on Tuesday 24th November 2026. The site will be the second in the UK, following an 18-year legacy in Nottingham.
The two-storey venue will bring together elements of South East Asian food heritage, coffee culture and nightlife, drawing inspiration from both Vietnam’s traditions and the energy of its modern cities.
Located on the ground floor, Coco Tang’s Café and Bakery is inspired by the café culture of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and will serve up staples like traditional Vietnamese Phin Coffee and Salted Egg Coffee. Ube, Matcha and Coconut Blend also feature on the menu, as well as Matcha Pandan.
The in-house bakery will serve fresh Asian inspired cakes and desserts daily. Including firm favourites such as Ube Tiramisu, Matcha Basque Cheesecake, Blueberry and Yuzu Tart and Halo Halo.
In addition to coffees and cakes, fresh Bánh Mì will be served from 8am until 6pm in the café; crusty baguettes stuffed with a choice of BBQ Lemongrass Chicken, Pork Belly and Crackling, or Tempura Battered Tofu. The Bánh Mì Chảo – a Vietnamese Skillet Dish – is also perfect for an all-day breakfast, served with Wok Fried Beef or Crispy Pork Belly.
Head to the first floor to enter the main restaurant, a vast space with interiors inspired by 1950s Saigon. The 175-seat restaurant is adorned with lanterns handcrafted in Hội An by a family-run workshop, floor tiles created in Ho Chi Minh City and an abundance of tropical plants.
The restaurant will be open Tuesday to Sunday from lunch until late, with a menu derived from authentic recipes from Vietnam, with some contemporary interpretations. Split into three sections, Mains, Small Plates and Sharing Platters, classic mains include, Phở noodle soup, an aromatic broth, slow simmered for 8-hours with beef bones and oxtail, then topped with an array of fresh herbs and spices and a choice of beef brisket or rare sirloin steak.
Alongside Bún Bò Trộn Nam Bộ – wok fried beef with a dressed noodle salad served with homemade spring rolls, Cừu Kho – slow braised mutton stew, fragrant with lemongrass, ginger, star anise and served with a Bánh Mì baguette, and Bò Lúc Lắc, aka “shaking beef” – stir fried sirloin steak with mixed peppers and onions, served with rice or salt and pepper fries.
Small plates are perfect for a starter, or pick a selection to create a small feast, from Soft Shell Crab to Crispy Pork Belly and Homemade Spring Rolls. Sharing Platters are made for two to indulge; the Mekong Platter features an assortment of vegan bites – Green Papaya Salad, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Salt & Pepper Tofu, Mango and Tofu Summer Rolls. The Pacific Platter is the one for seafood lovers – BBQ Grilled King Prawns, Salt & Pepper Squid, Cá Viên Chiên, King Prawn Summer Rolls and a spicy Gỏi Xoài Mango Salad.
Simply delicious, feel good food within a beautiful setting is what Coco Tang inspires to offer. Celebrating South East Asian flavours that are known and loved, presented in an elevated environment that transports you far from the grey skies of Manchester.
Situated on the wings of the first floor are two intricately designed private dining rooms, set up for intimate, curated events and special occasions. The first PDR accommodates up to 14 guests with the other seating up to 18 guests. Both are complete with a Vietnamese family-style sharing table, surrounded in lush greenery and studded with handmade ceramic mythical creatures.
The Patron of Saigon Lounge pays homage to Coco Tang’s long-term partnership with the prestigious Mexican Tequila House, Patrón. A versatile and large private space for experiences, celebrations and corporate bookings, hosting up to 40 seated guests or 85 standing.
Find the Cocktail Club across the bridge behind the restaurant. This will be the venue’s late night spot, serving vibrant cocktails and a space to dance the night away. An entity of its own, the 200-capacity bar and club will host DJs from Thursday through to Saturday, opening from 7pm till 1am on weeknights and 3am on weekends. Expect sounds of House, Afro House and Baile Funk from Manchester’s favourite collectives and selectors.
The cocktail menu is filled with South East Asian flavour, leaning heavily on delicious fruits and herbs, which are blended with classic and innovative liquors to create a unique drinking experience. ‘Fire Blossom’ blends Patron Reposado Tequila, Triple Sec, Strawberry Shrub, green chilli, lime and Thai basil, ‘Pink Pitaya’ mixes Cachaça, St Germain, elderflower, Akashi Sake, blueberry and dragon fruit. ‘The Hummingbird’ is another house favourite, with Lemongrass Rum, Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum, blueberry, coconut and pineapple.
The Manchester opening marks the latest chapter in Coco Tang’s ambition to become the UK’s leading contemporary Vietnamese hospitality brand. Their aim is to introduce more people to the warmth and creativity of Vietnamese culture through exceptional food, handcrafted drinks, considered design and genuine hospitality.
From the first coffee of the morning to the final cocktail of the night, Coco Tang Manchester will offer an escape from the city, the café, restaurant and cocktail club opens on the 24th November 2026.
